How To Fix A Mini Fridge That Freezes Everything

My mini fridge freezes everything.

It only started happening about two weeks ago.. It's several years old but it's never had a problem before. The room it's in is really hot (no AC) so I thought that might be the issue but I've been keeping the door open so AC from other rooms flows into there and it's still freezing everything. Does anyone have any ideas why?

Your cold control's setpoint is either too low, or your cold control's contacts are stuck closed (meaning it never really shuts off or does so intermittently).

There's not a knob on it for different cold settings I checked that lol.. so if the contacts are stuck closed does that mean the fridge is basically shot?

Depending on how handy you are, and if you can find the part locally or online, it's a fairly simple fix. The control will most likely be mounted in the top somewhere with two wires going to it. Do you have a model number I can look at?

Something in the controls isn't shutting your unit off. Could be t-stat or relay. Hire a refrigeration tech

It could be a really simple fix, likely to do with the thermostat.

You might need a new thermostat or hopefully it's your sensor, which is usually sits on the evaporator plate, has come loose and is sitting in the air. If this happens your compressor will continuously run as the thermostat doesn't get down to temp.

maybe the defrost heater of the evaporater is dead. the defrost heater are mostly integrated into the evaporater and start defrost when the temperature you set is reached and it stops when the evaporater reaches 0°C (32°F)

Shouldn't freeze product though. Yes it might ice up.

Simple basic , replace a new thermostat ,only it controls the temperature
